Motivational Love

Okay, who didn't see this coming from a mile away? Jack is a twenty year stuck at the same age and Ashi has been training for about twenty of the fifty years Jack has gone through.

Jack was bordering suicidal and Aku's plan to wait him out was actually beginning to succeed, Jack should have probably checked up on all the people he's saved and gotten a little love.

Ashi was trained from birth and with only a few glimpses of something beyond her sight she lost her sisters and at that point didn't care, her job was to slay Jack. She failed utterly and then her eyes were opened to the world around her by Jack.

The most recent episode has them slowly work up to this, with a lot of tension and some pretty good visual gags. Ashi doesn't understand social conventions and Jack is a bit of a prude who is not exactly close to anyone and needed help of at least a friend... or in this case a love interest.

After the two occasions he's ever been with a woman, Jack has reason to be wary of a relationship. One was Aku in disguise and the other was a forest being who let Jack go after allowing him to rest in her glade. Obviously the forest spirit allowed that to happen so that he could continue his journey, I believe she was meant to be encouragement to complete his job of dealing with Aku. Who knew what Aku was doing when he decided to flip genders for a day. Also Jack would be wary of forming a relationship with Ashi considering his wandering immortal status that keeps him in his prime condition.

'You're supposed to slay the dragon, not lay it!' is officially a trope I recognize. It means you were sent to do one mission and then you screwed it up... quite literally.

That said the suddenly romantic passion between the two is awkward as all get out, but with their upbringings it makes a whole lot of sense. I'm pretty sure this might upset some people, but at least they had a large and relatively long lead up to this instead of just doing the 'instant love, just add water' bit. They've obviously been traveling together for quite a while and it makes sense for Jack to be healed from his madness, because he needed someone to be there for him and he practically has no one by his side though the world loves him for his heroics. Jack really should have sought out and asked for help, because that's his most glaring problem as he's been ignoring all the people who would come together to help him if he simply asked for aid. That's why they had Ashi do the 'seek the samurai' plot.

Again I think this might upset some people, because they were hoping for the alien Emotiens known as the Emoji family to maybe help Jack a bit or romance is just not their thing. The fact that the young girl knew Jack means that his legend is still spreading as much as it is ongoing throughout the world.

Now we have to figure how the Scotsman's army plays into this and how will Jack meet up with them, also whether or not Demongo will get the Scotsman's soul. Demongo will greatly regret trying to hold the Scotsman's soul if he does end up doing so.

I agree with all of your comments and I even want to add something: Jack has been betrayed by a lot of women on his adventures and I do mean a lot, Ikra/Aku is the one everyone knows because it was in the first episodes and Spring Spirit(that was traumatic and a very dick move, anyone would be traumatized by that), but there was also the lady bounty hunter Josephine, who was really pushing the PG-13 with how much she was touching and flirting with Jack, Princess Mira who was also a bounty hunter that tried to kill him to save her planet from Aku or something, even Scotsman's wife which is a huge temper...

So, Jack never had a lady that could actually help him as much as Ashi did. So I feel like those 50 years were even more misery, so I am willing to give it to Jack on this: Ashi is somebody for Jack. :)
